Micro CMS Greetings

MicroCMS Logo

When I started to blog on Internet, I first used Wordpress 1. Then I switched to Dotclear 1.2 then 2.0beta. Because Dotclear has little support and much less plugins, I decided to switch back to Wordpress V2 this time.

Why not use Wordpress?

Wordpress is a fantastic Blog software. It has tons of plugins that let you do virtually anything, and it is supported by thousand of programmers and designers. But because it has grown more and more complex, for a beginner, it was a little difficult to reverse engineer and later write plugins for it, even for theming it is a little messy, unless you commit you commit your life in this framework. Of course there are a lot of themes on Internet that are free, but I couldn't find one free that really fitted my needs, and the good ones are not free of charge. So I started to learn php/mysql along with CSS and started to code my own CMS.

You might think there are other smaller blog softwares and I was crazy to reinvent the wheel. Yes I am a little crazy, I also wanted to accomplish something and challenge myself. Coding is great, it is immediately rewarding. You code and run and you get the result. IMHO, it is easier to start from scratch then to reverse engineer. What's more I was able to learn coding, which is a valuable skill for I want to work in the WWW.

The main features of MuCMS

The main things I was looking for were

  • simple to maintain
  • Fast to load
  • Easy to customize
  • Easy to add new features to
  • Easy to publish

That's it for now, in the future I will make Micro CMS more customizable.
